Detroit went ahead 3-1 after one inning, 4-1 after two innings and Chicago never recovered.
After Joe Haynes battled Hal Newhouser toe-to-toe in the first game to lose 2-1, it looked like this would be a tight series. White Sox starting pitching was not good at all in Game 2 and Game 3. The White Sox also batted only .194 in the three games. Dick Wakefield had a good series for the Tigers hitting .455, scoring 4 runs and driving in 6 runs.
