With all of that, the Padres were only down 3-0 when Tim Flannery pinch hit for him leading off the bottom of the Eighth Inning. Flannery singled but he was stranded at first base. Rich Gossage relieved Show, struck out Rhoden and then promptly surrendered three singles and a walk before giving up the Grand Slam to Tony Pena. I just wrote this post and it struck me again just how much happened in this game. I played it a few days ago and all that I remembered was the Grand Slam and the 8-0 drubbing. Show, though roughed up, pitched totally tough to only surrender three runs. Gossage - that happens... |
