April 23 New York Giants 2 Bickford Mize 1-2 2 Walks Boston Braves 2 Hartung Stanky 0-2 2 Walks Sac Jack Lohrke tripled and drove Willard Marshall in the Second Inning to put the Giants on top. Vern Bickford helped himself and singled in Mike McCormick in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Boston went ahead 2-1 on a Jeff Heath single in the Fifth Inning. Bill Rigney reached on an error in the Seventh Inning and with the bases loaded scooted home as Walt Cooper grounded out. Neither team could crack the scoreboard again and the game ended tied, 2-2. The Giants offensive struggles continue while their pitching is more than holding its own. April 24 New York Giants 2 Jansen Mize 1-3 HR Run RBI Walk Boston Braves 0 Sain Stanky 1-3 Walk Johnny Mize homered and Jack Lohrke singled to drive in Willard Marshall in the Fourth Inning to provide all the offense needed to win the game. Giants starter Larry Jansen went the distance for the complete game shutout. Braves starter Johnny Sain dropped to 0-2 for the season. He lost his first start 4-0 to Dutch Leonard and the Phillies on Opening Day. April 25 (Game One) New York Giants 1 Jones Mize 0-3 Walk Strikeout Boston Braves 1 Spahn Stanky 1-4 Walk Strikeout Bill Rigney led off the game for the Giants with a single, stole second base and hopped over to third base on a throwing error by Braves catcher Bill Salkeld. Sid Gordon flew out to left field and drove in Rigney to give the New York the lead. Earl Torgeson drew a 2-out walk in the bottom of the First Inning and Tommy Holmes followed up with a triple down the right field line to score Torgeson and tie the game 1-1. Starting pitchers Warren Spahn and Sheldon Jones then went to work and each finished the game without allowing another run. Starting Pitchers S. Jones 9.0 IP 5 Hits 3 Walks HBP 2 Strikeouts Spahn 9.0 IP 5 Hits 4 Walks Strikeout April 25 (Game Two) New York Giants 5 Poat Mize 1-2 HR Run 4 RBI Grand Slam Boston Braves 0 Voiselle Stanky 1-3 Reached on an error Johnny Mize clouted a Grand Slam in the Fourth Inning to put the game out of reach as he continued to carry the Giants through the fist week of the season. The Braves managed only three hits off of New York starter, Ray Poat. Post has put in two straight strong starts to begin the season. The Braves were shutout for the second time in the series.

Jackie Robinson took the start at first base for the Dodgers. Robinson was thrown out trying to steal home with the bases loaded in the Ninth Inning and the Dodgers ahead, 3-1.
The Giants scored only 3 runs in the series - 2 on Johnny Mize homeruns. The Dodgers scored only 5 runs in the series. Jackie Robinson was on fire at the plate but only contributed 1 RBI. Brooklyn's starting pitching looks like it could be strong all year but their bats are going to need to help them. The Giants were a scrappy team in this series defensively but their hitting has also got tot improve if they hope to have a decent season.
