The first game featured a rally by the Pirates. The second game was tight all the way punctuated by a Ralph Kiner tying home run. The third game looked to favor the Pirates and their starting pitcher Vic Lombardi who had an edge over Chicago starter Dutch McCall. McCall out-pitched Lombardi and the game was never in doubt. Ralph Kiner's stats for the series: 6-10 Homerun Double 2 runs RBI 3 Walks.
