December 17, 1988

North Texas State:   66
Fort Worth:                78

The Fort Worth Rangers hosted the North Texas State Eagles in a contest that could clearly be called a "Game of Two Halves".

The Eagles took it to the Rangers in the First Half and held a 37-34 lead at the break.
Fort Worth geared up its game in the Second Half, outscoring North Texas State 44-29 on route to a 78-66 win.

Rangers center Dave Scherrer was clearly not himself from the opening tip, scoring only 2 points in the First Half and 4 points the entire game before fouling out with 4:13 left on the game clock. Scherrer was the only Fort Worth player to score in double figures in each of the team's first six games.

The remaining four Rangers starters picked up the slack, however. Point guard Everett Hathaway poured in 22 points, forward Brian King scored 16 points, forward Chris Hathaway scored 12 points and shooting guard Brian Sawyer added 12 points.

North Texas State was led by Morgan who had 19 points and 7 rebounds and Worrell who added 18 points and 5 rebounds.
