Pitchers & Catchers Report Series 2014

The winter of 2013-14 has been a really lousy winter for a lot of us.
I do hope we all get through it safely and warmly. This winter, however, has worked to increase my anticipation of Spring and for baseball season. This is why I am beginning hopefully something that will become a tradition.

I am beginning the Un-Official Pitchers and Catchers Report Series.
(To go directly to recaps of the series themselves, click on the link at the bottom of the article.)

In hopes of encouraging us all as the winter hopefully winds down, Team #1 will be representing Warm Springs, Oregon and Team #2 will be representing Warm Springs, Montana. These team sponsors will help save money on uniform costs, further enhance the sense of community and hopefully help to thaw out fans across the country who are not able to attend the series in person but be only able to watch it on television or hear it over the radio.

Some basic for the series are as follows:

All of the card symbols will be used.
Advanced Stealing rules will be used.
Manager Rules are in effect.
No Injuries will be possible (who wants that kind of downer?)
No Ballpark rules are in effect.
No pitcher Fatigue Factor rules will be used.
No relief pitchers will be used (the Starters are in for the long haul)

All other rules may or may not be in effect, but the game will be played consistently.

Now for the nuts and bolts and the really important things:

The ballpark is Surprise Ballpark in Arizona.
Games will begin every day at 1:20pm local time.
If the game is tied at the end of Nine Innings, the game will be suspended until the next day to allow at least the pitchers an opportunity to rest.
Each team had a lineup payroll limit of 9 million (9$; Total of all position players and starting pitcher).
WS Oregon had a roster rule that each player must have a salary of exactly 1$.
WS Montana had a roster rule that only three position players could have a salary requirement of 3$$$; the other positions then had to be filled with 0$ players so as not to go over the 9$ payroll limit.
WS Oregon and WS Montana had all of the players on their rosters chosen by position by random in accordance with their team roster rule.
A Best-of-Seven series will be played.
