Some things don’t have to be said, they are just understood.
Sadly, the things I am about to list need to be mentioned because these days they are clearly not understood.
When you walk around during the day in the process of doing our business, living your life, being out in about please lift your eyes away from your smartphone/tablet enough to meet the rest of us eye to eye because we understand that whatever is going in your hand is much more interesting to you than any of the people around you but we need you to be at least conscious and aware of us all so you don’t bump into us causing us to fleshily interrupt your virtual daydream. If you at least don’t have your face buried in your smartphone/tablet and have moved to a tiny bluetooth device that connects to you ear in such a way none of us can see it and we then hear you carrying on a normal toned conversation with the air, the nearby produce or the passing car don’t hold it against it we think you are openly communicating with the voices in your head because you certainly are not communicating with any of the rest of us in the real world who are near you and have dissed us into feeling like we really should care about your conversation because believe me, all of us can plainly hear one side of it. If you have broken through to at least be able to notice and related to the other sentient beings that occupy the space and time around you as you yourself do but still find a need to be constantly tethered to your smartphone/tablet please don’t at any time in the conversation you may have with those bone and blood individuals augment a point you are making in that discussion by tapping on your device, swiping the clear plastic and then jamming the screen in our faces to show us just the correct website, video, image, post or data that we absolutely can’t live with out and prove you a virtual savant for locating.
Some things don’t have to be said but it seems a lot of this is not understood and now I have said it.
I just hope you aware enough to be able to hear it.
My top five favorite guitarists, from the bottom up. Steve Howe: From minimal exposure of him with Yes and just a little more exposure of him with Asia. Jimmy Page: Probably higher up in the all-time list and should be, but the songs he’s played on have not meant as much to me as the others on this list ahead of him. Joe Satriani: Part of the soundtrack of my life since Flying In A Blue Dream on cassette. Eddie Van Halen: I was late-comer to Van Halen, his music in the later albums carried me through tough times and his solos helped me celebrate the good times. Stevie Ray Vaughan: I have to take him in measured doses because my heart can’t take more than that - did you hear that, my hear can’t take more that that - I think probably because the man lays his soul all out when he plays. My top five guitarists, as of today. Play on, fellas.
I forgot B.B. King.
