WORDS.
The World Cup is here and the Round of Sixteen has begun.
American fans are following the 2014 tournament more closely than they ever have before - or rather, are following their own team more closely than ever before. The United States sports media is acting like soccer (football to the entire rest of the world) is suddenly the greatest game on the planet and have been commenting on both how exciting the matches have been and have attempted to give commentary on tactics and strategy. The fans and sports media involvement as they follow team USA is unparalleled and soccer is being pushed to move more into the forefront of the sports world in this country. I could comment that the entire country, save for the five percent of you who have been long-time football fans, is a Johnny-Come-Lately but I think the more proper term is Band-Wagoner because we all in the United States know that if Team USA had failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup this country would be more concerned about belly-button lint than which team made it out of Group G.

I'm commenting here about your article on the US team, since that one doesn't seem to be allowing comments. Well done. Thanks for bringing up how we rocked the CONCACAF, and the FIFA ratings. I'm always impressed how we do in the World Cup considering that the average American not only doesn't support the sport at all, but has no idea what "football" is!
